ART CLASS: Experimental Watercolor with Erica Qualey

  • Wanderwood 79 Sidelinger Road Nobleboro, ME, 04555 United States (map)

August 2 & 3, 2023 - 10:00am - 3:00pm

Class fee is $180

Having fun and pushing the boundaries within your art is both rewarding and crucial to growth. It will help you be more open to ideas and creativity and your painting will reflect it!  When painting, Erica strives to walk the line between spontaneity and control, enjoying the process and being open to experimenting with new ideas as her painting emerges. This workshop is designed to push you past the traditional watercolor techniques and explore new ways of approaching a painting. This workshop is designed for both people who have had some experience with watercolor and those who have barely dabbled in it, but who feel adventurous enough to jump right in. We will play with different experimental approaches to painting by creating dynamic washes, interesting textures, patterns, and marks that would be hard to achieve with traditional methods but can make a painting glow. These methods help painters who feel stuck, intimidated, or would like to learn new ways to loosen up and be free.

This in-person class will be held here at Wanderwood, in our event barn. This is an indoor environment with comfortable restrooms + space. Students are expected to bring their own painting supplies and will receive a supply list prior to class. This class is open to all levels of painting ability. There will be a short break for lunch; please bring your own lunch to enjoy.
