August 20, 2024 - 4:30 to 7 p.m. in Wanderwood’s Event Barn
Step into the world of watercolor with artist and illustrator Claire Loon Baldwin! In this watercolor class series, Claire offers relaxing, farm-inspired watercolor painting sessions. On August 20, we will study blueberries from a local farm. We will meet in Wanderwood’s beautifully updated historic barn, surrounded by fields of flowers and heirloom fruits and vegetables. Each class runs from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and will include light refreshment in addition to painting instruction.
All materials to use during class will be provided. Each participant will receive a blueberry drawing by Claire printed on archival quality Arches watercolor paper, and leave with their own finished frame-worthy creation. “We wanted to take the concept of a ‘paint and sip night’ and elevate it,” said Claire. “Students will paint a detailed naturalist illustration – a perfect keepsake or gift.”
Classes are suitable for all experience levels, whether you’re a seasoned artist or dipping your brush into the world of watercolor for the first time. Claire will cover the basics of mixing colors with precision and controlling consistency, and moving up to more advanced techniques like glazing, charging, and layering. Those looking to expand their skill sets will be given ways to stretch and grow throughout the class led by Claire’s expert instruction. Those simply looking for an enjoyable evening will be met with stress-free and approachable guidance.
A note about materials: If you would like to have your own high-quality materials to take home, a complete materials kit is available for an additional $20. It includes supplies hand-selected by Claire: a palette with premium Daniel Smith watercolors, Princeton watercolor brushes, and extra watercolor paper. For students who prefer to bring their own supplies, here is a list of what you will need.
Each class is offered for $100; early birds who sign up prior to June 5 for two or more classes in the series will receive a 25% discount with online code EARLYBIRD25. Sign up for 2+ classes in the series (after June 5), and each class will be discounted to $90 - a 10% savings. Use code WATERCOLOR10 at checkout for discount.
